Turn your grapes into juice to enjoy as a beverage or to turn into homemade jello, popsicles or jelly. Enjoy right away, freeze or can it safely following the instructions provided.

Serves: 1 litre
Ingredients
  • Grapes 10 cups 2.5 L
  • Water ½ cup 125 ml
Method
  1. Wash and stem grapes.
  2. Place grapes and water in large pot.
  3. Heat grapes and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring frequently until skins slip off and pulp separates easily from the seeds.
  4. Pour into juice strainer or colander lined with cheesecloth and let drip overnight. Avoid squeezing or pressing the pulp to keep juice as clear as possible.
  5. Grape juice will have sediment. Allow the sediment to settle overnight. The next day, simply pour off the clear juice or pour through a coffee filter or colander lined with cheesecloth.
  6. To can the juice, reheat the juice to boiling point.
  7. Pour into hot, sterilized jars leaving a ¼ inch (6 mm) headspace.
  8. Wipe rim with clean cloth and seal with hot sealing lid.
  9. Screw band on top and tighten finger tight.
  10. Process in hot water bath for 5 minutes.
  11. Remove jars. Cool undisturbed for 24 hours and check seal.
  12. Makes: 4 cups (1L ) of juice
