On May 22, 2010, Fruit Share got its first call to rescue fruit.  On that drizzly, Victoria Day, we picked three pounds of rhubarb.

Three pounds of rhubarb, split three ways. Hmm, it wasn’t a lot. Not enough, perhaps, to share with Winnipeg Harvest, but enough to share with a senior at Fred Tipping Place.

The smile on that senior’s face as he described how he was going to surprise his wife with rhubarb crisp that night was enough to convince us that even three pounds of rhubarb can make a difference. Fruit Share was launched.

From 2010 to 2016 Fruit Share as harvested and shared over 63,000 pounds or 28,500 kilograms of fruit!

Thanks to all the fruit owners and fruit pickers who made this possible and continue to share 1/3 of the harvest with individuals and charities throughout Winnipeg.

Thanks to all our funders and partners who have supported us along the way.
